Key stats taken on 10 June 2003 (at home): Weight: 12.50kg Length/Height 89.00cm Head circumference: 50.00cm
Key events this month was our trip to New Zealand, Lottie starting school unattended, 5 mornings a week and Chinese New Year which is very early this year.
Typical Chinese New Year greetings are: Gong Xi Fa Cai - (Mandarin now called Putonghua) or Kung Hei Fat Choi
- (Cantonese).
The literal translation of “Gong Xi” is “to wish” and “Fa Cai” means “to prosper”. So “Gong Xi Fa Cai” means “I wish that you will be prosperous”.
Chinese New Year is a great festival that symbolises renewal as expressed in the saying "Wan Siang Ken Xin" (everything will change a new for the better), and progress as
expressed in the saying "Xin Nian Jin Pu" (new year will bring progress and betterment). Its also a time when children and unmarried friends receive Hong Bao (Mandarin) Lai Si (Cantonese) which are little red envelopes containing “lucky money” - 8 virtual red packets have been added to this page.
